Students at the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources (CANR) have been urged to make intentional choices that promote academic excellence and personal well-being.
The Gender, Inclusion and Vulnerability (GIV) Office at CANR, in collaboration with the CANR Students Association (CANaRSA), hosted an engaging session on responsible campus living.
The event was themed “Making Choices That Lead to Academic Success” and formed part of broader efforts to shape student behaviour, strengthen inclusivity, and enhance holistic development.
Addressing the students, Dr. Isaac Bonuedi, a Research Fellow at the Institute for Rural Development and Innovation Studies (IRDIS), emphasised that students’ daily decisions, ranging from time management to social interactions, play a critical role in determining their academic outcomes.
He highlighted the importance of maintaining academic integrity, and seeking support early when challenges arise.
The programme also reinforced key pillars of responsible campus living, including effective time management, collaborative learning, healthy lifestyle practices, and building positive social networks.
Students were encouraged to take advantage of available institutional support systems such as counselling services, academic advisory units, and peer learning platforms to enhance both their academic performance and personal growth.
The initiative was led by members of the GIV-CANR team, including the Chairperson, Dr. (Mrs.) Antoinette Simpah Anim-Jnr., alongside Dr. Bernice Wadei, Dr. Isaac Bonuedi, Dr. Naa Kwarley, and Dr. Enoch Tham-Agyekum.
The GIV Office reiterated its dedication to advancing equity and strengthening student voices while fostering an inclusive environment where every student has the opportunity to thrive.
The event forms part of a series of student-focused engagements aimed at promoting responsible decision-making and equipping students with the tools needed for success on campus and beyond.
Also present at the event was the CANR Registrar, Mr. Charles Asamoah Boateng.
