To ensure a harmonious and successful implementation of the KNUST-CANR Cocoa Demonstration (KCCD) farm project in Brosankro, the provost of the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Prof. Dadson Awunyo-Vitor has paid a courtesy visit on the town's chief.

The meeting aimed to foster a strong and mutually beneficial relationship between KNUST and the community, and also to discuss the project's objectives and expected benefits.

The KNUST team outlined the purpose of the project and how it would contribute to the development of both the university and the local population.

Nana Kwasi Agyeman Prempeh, the acting chief of Brosankro, expressed gratitude for the team's visit, emphasizing its significance for the town's growth.

He expressed optimism about the potential benefits the project could bring to the community.

" As you have explained, this project has the potential to attract more people to our town, which will, in turn, boost local commerce, especially for the women who sell foodstuffs.

We are excited about this initiative and are hopeful that your good intentions will lead to the development of Brosankro," he remarked.

" We hope that when people think of forestry and related projects in few years to come, Brosankro will be the first place that comes to mind.

We are glad you came to engage with us. Now, we know what to communicate to our townsfolk regarding this project," he added.

Prof. Awunyo-Vitor, the provost, thanked the chiefs for their reception and reiterated the core benefits of the project.

" I am truly grateful for your support. After my first visit, I realized that this place has great potential, with structures that can be used for various purposes.

After further discussions with my team, we decided that we could organize short courses here for both the townsfolk and our students. These would include training in beekeeping, snail farming, mushroom farming, and more," he expalined.

"We also plan to conduct in-service training for cocoa farmers. The KCCD farm is not only for KNUST students but also for the local community.

Our goal is to enhance agricultural livelihoods so that even those who are unable to continue their education beyond senior high school will have viable opportunities to support themselves," he stressed.

The Provost was joined by Dr. Nat Owusu Prempeh, Dr. Samuel Boadi, Dr. Osei Owusu Antobre, and Mr. Vincent Kusi-Kyei.
