A team of students from the Technical University of Munich (TUM) visited Prof. Francis Appiah of the Department of Horticulture to observe his lecture as part of their research work.
Their visit was a key component of a research project exploring how climate anxiety affects public engagement and the effectiveness of communication strategies in addressing scientific issues.
The group aims to develop innovative approaches to improve scientific communication, particularly in relation to climate change.
Omar Rashed, one of the researchers, highlighted the importance of their work.
"Many young people feel disconnected from the issue of climate change, often due to fear or anxiety.
This emotional barrier reduces their willingness to engage with the topic. Our goal is to discover more effective and relatable ways to communicate these concerns,β he stated.
During their visit, the students participated in an interactive lecture with masterβs students from the Department of Horticulture, led by Prof. Appiah.
The session encouraged open discussions, allowing students to exchange ideas, share insights, and explore various communication techniques through a presentation session.
The students expressed their appreciation for the opportunity to engage with Prof. Appiah, noting that the session provided them with practical skills and deeper insights into the power of communication in scientific and environmental discourse.
