The College of Agriculture and Natural Resources (CANR) has welcomed a delegation from the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) as part of a quality assurance and institutional assessment visit.Led by Prof. Kwame Boasiako Omane-Antwi, the delegation was received by the Provost of the College, Professor Dadson Awunyo-Vitor, together with faculty and administrative members.
The visit is part of GTEC’s mandate to ensure that tertiary institutions in Ghana adhere to the highest standards in teaching, research, governance, and service delivery.
Addressing faculty and staff, Prof. Omane-Antwi emphasized the collaborative nature of the engagement.
“What I want to say is that we are all here as colleagues to ensure that we can go through this exercise successfully,” he stated. “And this exercise is so important because we want to know your commitment to quality, your commitment to continuous improvement, and your commitment to accountability.”
He encouraged members of the College to be open and transparent. “Share with us whatever you want us to know so that at the end of the day, we’ll be able to come up with some of the issues that I believe will go to help the College.”
GTEC, as part of its core function, applies the highest quality standards and relevance to teaching, learning, and research programmes and outcomes.
Prof. Vitor delivered a presentation highlighting the College’s strategic focus areas and impact.
Following his presentation, an interactive session ensued, during which the GTEC delegation scrutinized the College’s operations, policies, and performance indicators raising critical questions and offering insights aimed at strengthening institutional effectiveness and alignment with national standards.The provost acknowledged the significance of the visit and expressed appreciation for the leadership and insights shared by the GTEC team.
“We’re grateful for your presence and the commitment you’ve shown,” Prof. Awunyo-Vitor remarked. “We will take forward the important suggestions and strategic directions discussed today. We have identified where we need to start tightening the knot and will begin implementing the necessary improvements to enhance our systems.”
The GTEC delegation also included Prof. Mohammed Salifu, Prof. Samuel Nii Odae, Kwaku Boateng, and Emmanuel Oware Nyarko.
