The Faculty of Agriculture has received a donation valued at GH₵295,000, along with a tractor and 25 sets of hand tools, from the Bridge Programme, an initiative of the World Food Programme (WFP).
The donation is aimed at enhancing student training in practical skills development and improving post-harvest management practices.
The donation was presented on behalf of the Bridge Programme by Mr. Kwasi Botwe, the Human Resource Manager of Eco Radiant Engineering Solutions Limited, a partner organization involved in the project’s implementation.
Mr. Botwe emphasized the ongoing nature of the support
“These are not the only items we are bringing,” he stated. “In the coming weeks, we will also be delivering two multi-purpose dryers. These will be used by students to begin hands-on training in post-harvest management when the academic calendar resumes.
We expect the students to make good use of the equipment, and we will be back not only to inspect how they are being used but also to offer training on how to operate and maintain them properly.” He stated.
Receiving the items on behalf of the faculty were the Dean, Professor Fred Nimoh, and the Project Coordinator, Professor Robert Aidoo.
They both expressed profound appreciation for the support and highlighted its significance to agricultural education at KNUST.
“This donation is timely and aligns perfectly with our goal of strengthening the practical competencies of our students. The equipment will enable us to deliver more hands-on training and ensure that our students graduate with skills that are relevant and impactful. On behalf of the faculty, we thank the World Food Programme, and all contributing partners for their commitment to agricultural education.” Prof. Nimoh remarked.
The Department of Agricultural Engineering, the Department of Animal Science, and the Department of Horticulture have been identified as the primary beneficiaries.
