Professor Dadson Awunyo-Vitor, Provost of the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, and Mrs. Hannah Adom Eyison, Assistant Grants and Research Manager at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi, have been selected as fellows for the University Administration Support Program (UASP) Research Management Fellowship.
This highly competitive program is developed and implemented by the International Research & Exchanges Board (IREX), with support from the Carnegie Corporation of New York.
The UASP Research Management Fellowship taking place in Washington DC is designed to equip research managers with the tools and expertise to enhance institutional research capacity, foster global collaborations, and drive impactful research initiatives.
As part of the fellowship, Mrs. Eyison has gained hands-on experience and training to advance research administration at KNUST and beyond. Professor Awunyo-Vitor will focus on strengthening technology transfer and research commercialization at KNUST after the program.
A key highlight of the program is the Research Management 360° framework, an innovative tool developed by IREX that provides institutions with best-practice criteria to evaluate research management performance.
This framework empowers research managers to assess institutional strengths, identify areas for improvement, and enhance their roles in fostering research productivity and societal impact.
Mrs. Eyison highlighted the impact of the UASP Fellowship on her professional growth, stating that the program has equipped her with critical insights and essential tools to enhance her effectiveness as a Research Management Professional.
“I am committed and excited about implementing a transformative reform aimed at improving the management of sponsored research at my university,” she said.
They expressed deep appreciation to IREX, the Carnegie Corporation of New York, the Vice-Chancellor of KNUST, and the Director of the Office of Grants and Research (OGR) for the opportunity to be part of the UASP Research Management and Leadership Program
