Following their earlier visit to explore potential areas of collaboration within the cocoa sector and to introduce the KOSEN Innovation Challenge (KOI), a unique educational initiative from Japan that blends practical engineering education with real-world problem-solving.

The delegation from Nagaoka University of Technology has returned to the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources (CANR), this time, the visit focused on presenting the terms of collaboration and outlining both immediate plans and long-term aspirations.

The Japanese team was accompanied by winners of the KOI Challenge, who showcased projects they had implemented in Ghana’s cocoa sector in partnership with other universities.

In turn, students from CANR also presented highlights of their thesis research, demonstrating how their academic work contributes to addressing pressing challenges in agriculture and the cocoa value chain.

The Provost of the College, Prof. Dadson Awunyo-Vitor, welcomed the delegation, expressing the College’s commitment to fostering mutual learning, innovation, and impactful partnerships.

Mai Tamori, the project coordinator, shared insights on how the initiative has progressed and commended the efforts of both Ghanaian and Japanese students.

“Thank you so much for giving all of us this opportunity for collaboration and exchange,” she noted, emphasizing the value of shared experiences in advancing agricultural innovation.

The delegation was led by Dr. Eli Gaveh, who expressed optimism about the prospects of the collaboration and highlighted CANR’s readiness to fully engage in joint projects.

Also in attendance was Prof. Joseph Oppong Akowuah, who contributed to discussions on strengthening institutional ties and fostering student innovation.
