The College of Agriculture and Natural Resources (CANR) welcomed a distinguished visit from Prof. Paul Tabri, the first-ever appointee to what is now the Faculty of Renewable Natural Resources.

The visit, a courtesy call on Prof. Dason Awunyo-Vitor, Provost of the College, provided an opportunity to reflect on the pioneering steps that led to the establishment of the faculty and the training of Ghana’s first generation of experts in renewable natural resources.

Prof. Tabri recounted his journey, from conceptualizing and advocating for the creation of the faculty to laying its foundational structures.

He fondly recalled working alongside other pioneers, including the late Professor Le, founder of the School of Medical Sciences, and others who supported research and development initiatives.

He emphasized that the early years involved not only academic rigor but also hands-on leadership, resource mobilization, and the cultivation of a vision that would guide the faculty’s growth for decades.

Prof. Awunyo-Vitor expressed gratitude for the visit, noting that it also opened discussions on documenting the history of the faculty and celebrating the invaluable contributions of its founders.

The provost announced a follow-up meeting for a comprehensive discussion.
