To commemorate the TEK Alumni Homecoming, the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources (CANR) organized a mentorship programme to connect alumni with current students.
The initiative provided a platform for alumni to share their personal journeys, professional experiences, and practical guidance with students.
The event drew a significant number of alumni who showed strong support and enthusiasm to engage with students and contribute to their academic and professional growth.Speaking at the programme, former Member of Parliament and Chairman of the Ghana Cocoa Board, Hon. Hackman Owusu-Agyemang, encouraged students to remain focused and disciplined in their pursuits.
He urged students to cultivate respectful and productive relationships with their lecturers and to remain committed to their studies.
“You must show respect to your lecturers and value what they are teaching you. Whatever you are asked to do, pursue it wholeheartedly. I speak from experience—global experience. It makes all the difference,” he added.
“I know it's difficult for you, but you have the privilege, and you must make good use of it. When you set yourself a goal and truly want to achieve it, you live with it and achieve it,” he said.
Other alumni who spoke during the event shared personal stories, highlighting how determination and resilience helped them overcome those difficulties.
Dr. Herman Yobo Addae, Global President – KNUST Alumni Association, urged students to leverage the presence of alumni for inspiration and guidance.
“Use this opportunity to connect. Learn how to navigate your future. There are many alumni here, make new friends, ask questions, and build relationships. When you need support, reach out. We are always here to help,” he said.
“We belong to a great university, and it is our mission to see you succeed and, in turn, contribute to a strong and vibrant alumni network,” he added.
The Provost of the College, Prof. Dadson Awunyo-Vitor, expressed heartfelt appreciation to the alumni on behalf of the College for their dedication, mentorship, and ongoing support.
The programme concluded with an interactive session, where students asked insightful questions and received candid, experience-based responses from the alumni.
